FRINGE - "Past + Present + Future -- Neither Here Nor There" Video

Here is a FIVE MINUTE breakdown of what has happened on FRINGE over this season. I guess this is FOX trying really hard to catch people up to the show so they tune in. Murdoch must really love his niece.

  1. Think they have merged the timelines in this. They go over old stuff but update people on changes that have happened in season 4. I guess this timeline is here to stay.

  2. Wait. Anna Torv is Satan's niece? Well I'll be...

  3. Kevin Reilly's comments suggest that uncle is not really getting involved in this Fringe renewal situation. He is letting Reilly do the hatchet job, I guess blood is not thicker that the mighty dollar.

They are expecting the WB to pick up the financial slack....hehehe

  4. Count me as one viewer who needed this update. I thought I had missed a few episodes, but it appears I missed more than I thought.

  5. Advance reviews of the next episode are really promising too. Looks like this could be a big payoff episode! Too bad it didn't air when it was supposed to, before the holiday hiatus...

Very much looking forward to it and I'll be enjoying the show until the very end, which hopefully isn't this season...

  7. They have played a dangerous game and lost. They tried to load all the "Peter season" material in one episode to try and fool and fuck with fans and not having aired that episode showed just what bastards they are. Cancellation is coming.

  8. The great thing with immanent cancellation is that when reporters or fans ask stupidly about Peter they can honestly respond "who the fuck cares!" and they can stop the bullshit once and for all.

  9. You can't blame FOX for not airing this episode when it was supposed to. That's the fault of the baseball schedule.

  10. Even though it was not aired...they fucked around bullshitting the fans for 7 episodes, they only put Peter stuff in episode 8 so that they could trick and tease fans that more is coming. I bet that they did one episode either side of the break that was about Peter (8 and 9) and they only did it to tease fans and then it will go back to the same bullshit. Karma is a funny thing...fringe is fucked and they deserve it for the lies and bullshit that flows out of wyman and pinkners mouths.

  11. John, you are too invested in being angry at the writers. Let it go. Watch to see what happens. If then, after the next two weeks, the writers shit all over your shit and feed it to you with extra shit added, I will start that head hunting party for you.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ok in 2 weeks If they go back to shit COTW where Peter is in the background.....I look forward to your post.

  13. The funny thing is now they are begging fans who they lied to to tune in and watch! Lol. Ari Margolas did a mega tweet begging people to watch live. Try honesty instead of lying brother....maybe fans would trust you and stick with your show.

  14. Between this and Community, I'm sensing a few more fan renewal crusades in my future.

To think, I was looking forward to giving up being emotionally invested in a show on January 27th.

    Sigh.

  15. Looking at the wonderful fan inspired "Where is Peter Bishop" video, Joel Wyman and Jeff Pinkner have really squandered any good will they would have. They have the audacity to beg for fans to tune in when they take that kind of love and enthusiasm and tell fans basically to go and fuck themeselves with 7 shit episodes.

Maybe they thought that the video only had 200 or so fans in it and a lot of them were not in the US and so thought "fuck them".

Well wankers Wyman and Pinkner when you write a show that tells certain fans to basically eat shit, you end up with less than 3 million viewers and get your ass cancelled. No one should save their butts, they fucked up beyond human comprehension. I just do not understand how these two are allowed to even meet fans and speak to them when all they do is shit on them.

  17. It was a great video but yeah....like CHUCK is the Chuck story Fringe is the Olivia and Walter story. A simple fan video will not change that and show runners will be show runners. It is their nature as atrists to be dissmissive and arrogant towards fans. Chill out your getting what you wanted, Fringe will be cancelled so no worries.

I hope Josh finds a great career after this show is done.

  19. I am excited for this week's FRINGE. I didn't read any of the reviews (I don't like to read reviews until after I've written mine since it is very easy to allow one review to frame your own) but saw half of a promo and that was enough.

  20. Someone posted a while ago that a series will always be viewed differently by those who watch from the beginning and those who joined much later.

I have a feeling that the fans who are irate are the ones who have been watching since the beginning. The ones like HGF (Who I assumed joined the series later) are not so bothered.

Maybe fans should just skip series and only tune into the end. Fuck ratings and all that bullshit, just tune in at the end and therefore your dissappointment is limited. That is the future!

  21. "Someone posted a while ago that a series will always be viewed differently by those who watch from the beginning and those who joined much later."

Yep... I said that. And it is true pretty much every time. Those who start with the show from day one fall into two camps. By season 3 they are total members of the choir, apologizing for everything. Or they can't believe what a massive piece of shit the show has turned into since their precious season 1 or 2 (or both). Meanwhile, fans who join in season 3, LOVE THAT SEASON.

Happens at least 99% of the time.

  22. I think another way to appreciate a series is to manage expectation. There is a reason while fringe does not win awards and is mixed with critics. Fringe is an ambitious procedural at best and that is ok. If fans can accept that then they will appreciate the show a lot more. I accepted that Chuck has basically no money to do col stuff and so I value the relationships and characters more.

If fringe were a better show like some of the serialised ones on Cable then in season 3 they would have for example explored via visions what the machine ultimately does. So every time Peter touched a piece of it he would get visions and then once the finale came....it would all make sense. Then once season 4 started they would spend a few episodes with Peter in the machine and how it the decisions he made while travelling through time and universes ultimately erased him through the timeline. Then he would be back in a new universe where no one knows him and he would have to find a way home.

But that is what a good serialised show would do, but Fringe just hammers in stakes into the ground and then moves on with no subtlety. Nothing really is explained and they seem happy to contrast their characters with MOTW.

I accept that is is an average show and enjoy it that much moe knowing it will never achieve anything great. It is not fair to expect a 'C' student in high school to become a Doctor. It is unfair and a little harsh. So I hope all these Peter Bishop fans who bag this show on all fan sites and critics blogs just calm the fuck down. You want perfection...go watch The Wire.

  24. Called it! Called it! Called it! Called it!

Wyman and Pinkner just did an interview with tvguide magazine and admitted that only the next two episodes focus on Peter (I.e. One each side of the long break) and then he is backgrounded. They return to MOTW and Peters whole arc this season is 2 episodes. Prediction for the ratings? Under 2.5 million viewers and less than 1 million, let the fun continue!

    ReplyDelete
  25. They have done three interviews with huffington post, tvline and tvguide magazine. In those interviews they have admitted that onl episode 8 and 9 are kinda of about Peter. The interviewer asks if these next batch of episodes would be Joshua Jackson heavy, they said no. It is smart I must admit, do one episode either side of a break and string fans along and give them no payoff. And then string tem for another 12 episodes and give them a crumy finale.....got to love these guys. I look forward to what fans reactions and critics reactions will be in a few episodes time when the shoe drops.

  26. John, I read those same articles and they said that they would focus on Peter but then return to focus on the other characters as well. Nowhere did I read that they would ONLY focus on Peter for TWO EPISODES for the rest of the season.

  27. This was a horendous, horrendous, horrendous episode of Fringe. Peter was being dragged from destination to destanation to destination all so that other characters could get their moment to become relevant in this mess of a season. Peter had no agency, he had no voice, he was just there to let other characters make the decisions.

They have lost the Peter character, they have lost him so badly that I only hope you are right and this is the final season because this is getting distasteful.

This is supposed to be a Peter season and this is supposed to be the start of his arc and he was hardly on screen both literally and figutively.

Oh Fox just cancel this rubbish and let Joshua Jackson go. I am so angry right now, David Fury wrote Lost's Walkabout and based on Fringe and what he is doing...those episodes on Lost were a one off, a fluke. What a hack.

This show has lost its bearings and Pinkner and Wyman have lost fans respect, I predict the ratings to fall even further when fans realise the duplicity in all of this and how just much they have lied, lied, lied.

Olivia, Lincoln, Walter, Walternet, alt-lincol, Broyles, astrid...they all had more dialogue and more lines and more everything. Oh what the fuck is this crap?

I am done with this fucking shit. Good luck HGF, godspeed.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I am going to try and remain positive, I really am. The story is moving forward...great! Peter had more screen time...great! There is a new big bad and more coherency to this particular narrative...great!

But...and this is a big But....Peter lacked agency. The episode started out ok then after 10 minutes it just stalled. It was like Peter was being pulled from one contrived destination to another all so that we could get the other sides views and opinions and guage their emotional states. This episode was not about Peter but about how this universe is coping. It is like the show did what our Lincoln and Olivia wanted to do...we wanted Peter to have loads of dialogue and stuff like that but the show had other ideas and wanted to spend more time with the other side.

What was the point of this episode? for Peter to go and speak to everyone in their universe to "recontextulise"? to get their understandings?

This was supposed to be about Peter going for broke and revealing himself in the heartbreak of dreaming day after day after day of not being able to get home and his actions should have been of a man in a desperate place to go for it with full emotions. This Peter seemed...I got to go home..whatever.

I am sorry, they have lost the Peter character for me. I have stopped caring about him, they had a chance to redeem him but nope, not interested. He just has no agency, none at all. I bought his not alt moms emotions more than his, this is not I feeling I like.

Well the good thing is that I am done complaining about Peter. I will watch the next episode to see if they can rectify this and then I predict that they will put him further into the background and string us along to the finale. So one episode either side of the long break with Peter to tease the fans and that is it. Awesome. I look forward to how Olivia and Walter find their overall hapiness.
