Furycast 63 - FOX is Not a Real Network

Jess and Magnus discuss CHUCK (way too much), NEW GIRL, HAPPY ENDINGS, PARKS AND RECREATION, ARCHER, plus some other stuff... like how FOX is not a real network... ummm... Viggo Mortensen... what else? Racism in the industry... look, it is an hour long. It is bound to cover a lot of stuff that I can't remember. Just let it be people! Let it be!

WARNING: this is essentially an unedited podcast. Only 12 seconds at the beginning and 10 at the end were cut out. So if we relieve ourselves or drink water or stop talking for a minute... it is all there. ENJOY!

  1. Great podcast. Jess' mic sounds really good by the way.

Happy Endings was funny again. Jane and Brad are just great together. And yeah, why is it that if there's ever a bunch of ethnic woman around or in an exotic place, they always manage to find the one white woman. Also, in movies like Gladiator or Troy, they always cast white Brits. But i know they do that because it looks and sounds... better? I cant think of a word but, you know.

Jon Hamm is 41 by the way. I just thought i would share that. And i don't know how the hell Hardwick stays looking so young. Its crazy. He and Hamm are the same age and Hamm could pass as his father!

You guys are absolutely right about the Superman and Spiderman, plus others, origins. Pretty much everybody knows. I knew before i watched any of 'em. Same with Vader. I knew he was Luke's father long before i ever watched Star Wars.

Can't wait for the re-watch. Really looking forward to that. I know I've said that a bunch, but i really am.

    3. Hey Magnus! I just wanted to hear your thoughts on Rob Corddry being cast as the lead in the American version of SPY.

    4. I have to see what he does with the role. I'm not sure.

    5. Okay. Because he's an actor that has been in a lot of stuff, i wondered what your thought were of him. As an actor. But yeah, guess we gotta see him in action before any final judgment.

  2. Belated answer to the question of Archer's ratings. The last episode I looked at (1/17/13) its viewers were 77% male and 23% female. That's a higher male skew than football, which is usually about 65% male.

I was about to write that most animated shows don't appeal to women, but I looked up the ratings for American Dad on Adults swim and the male percentatages are in the 50-55% range. South Park is more like Archer in the high 70% range.

On 1/17, Archer had a 1.0 A18-49 rating, but its M18-49 rating was a 1.6. It F18-49 rating was a lowly 0.45. For Men 18-34, Archer's rating was a healthy 2.1. Archer's median age was 31.5. So, its 18-34 ratings are higher than its 18-49 ratings.

Looks like ARCHER will be around for a long, long, long time.
